NTUNGAMO - Ntungamo district-based bodaboda riders have pledged to mobilise support for President Yoweri Museveni ahead of the 2026 General Election.
Donning yellow T-shirts with President Museveni's portrait, the bodaboda riders said they were ready to hit the road and ensure NRM candidates register a landslide victory.
This was after senior presidential advisor on agriculture, Peace Rugambwa, rallied them to mobilise votes for Museveni and NRM candidates due to the prevailing peace in the country. 
Incumbent President Museveni is the National Resistance Movement party's candidate.
Rugambwa outlined the achievements NRM government has made, including expanding the road network infrastructure, increase of the health facilities in the country, expansion of the infrastructure in education sector and the introduction of programmes such Parish Development Model (PDM), Entadikwa, Emyooga, Youth Livelihood Programme and women empowerment programmes, Operation Wealth Creation, all aimed at fighting poverty and improve the households income.
She told the audience that this is an opportunity to vote for President Museveni and NRM candidates to protect the gains made.
Ntungamo LC5 chairperson Samuel Muchungunzi appealed to the bodaboda riders to mobilise support for candidate Museveni from village to village.
He praised the First Lady and the Minister of Education and Sports, Janet Museveni, who is beside Museveni on the campaign trail, for championing development in Karamoja region while she was a minister of Karamoja affairs.
Savings groups
Incumbent Ntungamo Municipality Member of Parliament Yona Musinguzi agreed with the presidential advisor on bodaboda riders to form SACCOs, saying it will be an opportunity for them to access big money and create wealth to develop.
“As bodaboda riders, you have opportunity to access the money and create development,” Musinguzi said.

The presidential advisor was accompanied by the co-ordinator of Team Peace Rugambwa, Kakyene Namanya, Irene Sabiti in charge of Finance, Pamela Kihumiro, the secretary and Grace Musiimenta in charge of security, among others.
The meeting took place at Quidproquo Scurry Inn in Ntungamo district on October 28, 2025.
She told the audience that the bodaboda industry will develop if President Museveni is reelected in the January 25 elections.
The presidential advisor is campaigning under the slogan “Team Peace Rugambwa, President Museveni 2026-2031.
President Museveni tussling out with other seven presidential candidates: Robert Kyagulanyi of the National Unity Platform (NUP), Maj. Gen. (rtd) Gregory Mugisha Muntu of the Alliance for National Transformation, Nathan Nandala Mafabi of Forum for Democratic Change, Joseph Mabirizi of Conservative Party, Robert Kasibante of National Peasants Party, Mubarak Munyagwa of the Common Man’s Party and Frank Bulira Kabinga of Revolutions Peoples Party.
She asked them to welcome Museveni next month when he is scheduled to campaign in the district.
"Come in large numbers to show support and solidarity to escort the president to his campaign rally," Rugambwa said.
Bodaboda riders speak out
Benon Nsiima appealed to his colleagues to work hard in canvassing votes for Museveni.
Another bodaboda rider, Kenneth Byabareeba, said he will commit himself to mobilising support for President Museveni so that he can win in Ntungamo district by 100%.
Richard Kaijuka asked the NRM leaders at both local and national levels to address the problem of youth unemployment.
