Oil refinery: Uganda to save $1b per year in oil imports

Experts have labelled Uganda’s oil refinery as highly beneficial, driving economic transformation by creating thousands of jobs, reducing reliance on imported petroleum products and improving the country’s balance of payments.


KAMPALA - Uganda has made tangible progress in raising equity for the construction of an oil refinery, whose price tag is estimated at $4b (about sh14 trillion).
