Olila women's team preparing for the upcoming games
Olila Women’s Football Club head coach Amos Opolot has expressed confidence in his team’s readiness as they prepare for the 2025/26 Finance Trust Bank FUFA Women Super League, which kicks off on Friday, October 3.
The Soroti-based side narrowly avoided relegation last season, finishing 10th with 22 points. This time, however, Opolot says the team is aiming much higher.
“The team is well-prepared and in high spirits. The girls are determined, focused, and dedicated to going all the way this year. Whoever underrates us must understand that our goal is simple: we are here to win the title,” he said.
According to Opolot, a squad of 24 players has been undergoing intensive training at the club’s home ground for the past month.
Team captain Mary Lotyang Aligonda echoed her coach’s optimism, insisting the players are ready to fight for glory. “Our message this time is clear—we will compete, not just participate. Our dream is to bring the trophy home to Teso,” Lotyang emphasized. She added that the players are fully aware of what is at stake and are prepared to give their all on the pitch.
The new season officially kicks off on Friday, October 3, with Kawempe Muslim Ladies FC hosting Kampala Queens FC at Kawempe Muslim Ground.
On Saturday, October 4, Asubo Ladies FC will face She Maroons FC at Kampala Quality Ground, while She Corporate FC takes on Uganda Martyrs High School WFC at FUFA Technical Centre, Njeru. The day’s action will conclude with Amus College WFC welcoming St Noa Girls Zana FC at Amus College Stadium.
Sunday, October 5, will see Lady Doves FC host Olila High School WFC at Katusabe Ground, while Makerere University WFC faces Rines SS WFC at Makerere University Ground. All opening weekend fixtures are scheduled to kick off at 10:00 a.m.
