Software Engineering student tops Bugema University graduates, 200 get First Class

A total of 1,779 students are set to graduate on Sunday, November 11 in different disciplines at Bugema University's 31st graduation ceremony.

Of these, 913 are female.

Charles Karemera has emerged as the best student, scoring a GPA of 4.98 in Bachelor of Science and Software Engineering.

The second-best student, Valeria Mutamba, garnered a GPA of 4.91 in a bachelor's degree in theology. 

She was followed by James Nasibu Maiga with a GPA of 4.90 from the School of Theology.

Sandrine Uwitonze emerged as the overall fourth-best student. She scored a GPA of 4.84 in Bachelor of Nursing Science.

Speaking to New Vision, Karemera shared how he made it to the helm.

"Determination kept me moving through challenges. I always aimed high and refused to settle for average. I consistently did research, read widely and stayed open to discussion with lecturers and classmates. I remember a lecturer giving me 18 out of 15 in an assignment because I had performed beyond his expectations," he said.

The Academic Registrar, Dr. Justine Lwanga, revealed that a total of 200 students bagged First Class degrees.
