Ugandan teen artiste Ring Rapper off to London for Royal show performance

LONDON - Teenage singer Jonathan Wahebwa aka Ring Rapper Ratata is still coming to terms with emotions after he was invited to perform in the United Kingdom (UK) at the Royal Show organised by Ugandans in the diaspora.

Described as the youngest Ugandan solo artiste to ever step on the British soil and to perform at the Royal Regency, Ratata will be performing for the first time alongside Ugandan big artists like Queen Sheebah and King Saha.

For the first time, Ring Rapper, 18, is getting big recognition by performing for an international audience for a mega concert at the Royal Regency Hotel in the United Kingdom on Saturday, November 08, 2025.

“I was shocked to receive a message that I was going to perform in London. I am imagining all the way from Nansana to London. It is my first time to fly, and this alone gives me great excitement,” Ratata, a former student of Tropical High School Kabalagala in Kampala, says.

Ratata started his music career at the age of 11 in 2018, and it is his musical talent that has enabled him to get scholarships in various schools until he completed Senior Six last year.

More great things are coming his way. He has been offered another scholarship to enrol at Victoria University, thanks to the Vice-Chancellor Chancellor, Prof. Lawrence Muganga, where he hopes to continue pursuing academics, but also his career.

“I’m so grateful to God. I recently got a few challenges, but now, the heavens have opened doors for me. Getting an invite to perform in the UK has ignited my spirits and challenged me to work harder, for I now know my future is bright,” Ratata, who is still living under the care of his single mother, Lydia Nabukeera, in Nansana, a city suburb, says.

Sheebah Karungi will also be performing in London.

His father, John Wahebwa, passed on in 2023, leaving him and his little sister at the mercy of well-wishers.

In addition, Ratata is coming up with new songs, among them, “Wasted Time", “Respect” and others.

His hip hop music, both in Luganda and English, mainly appeals to the young generation. At home in Uganda, he has been performing at local concerts and in schools. In one of his hits, “Abatuuze” Ratata challenges parents who, he says, many times fail to play their parental role and instead turn to the government for intervention when things
go wrong. He sings to the parents, asking to help their children start their career development at an early stage in life.

He emulates music legends like Dr. Jose Chameleone. Ratata is grateful to the UK-based Ugandan music promoter, Ivan Kibuuka, for spotting his talent and inviting him to the show.

When contacted, Kibuuka said they are giving an opportunity for Ratata to feature alongside Queen Sheebah and King Saha, referring to him as the ‘Royal Prince’ for his music that appeals to the young generation.

He says Ratata will also inspire many young artistes to develop their careers.
